Resolution No. 302 series of 2023

A RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING POLICE TRAINEE AUGUST DAGUIO DAVID JR. FOR HIS EXEMPLARY COURAGE AND HEROISM

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the State to consistently honor its military and police officers in order to strengthen patriotic spirit and nationalist consciousness;

WHEREAS, on October 6, 2023 at about 12:30 PM, 26 year old PNP Trainee: P/T August Daguio David Jr. without hesitation jumped from the Barkadahan Bridge to the Manggahan Floodway to save the distressed teenager from drowning;

WHEREAS, P/T David Jr. hails from Taguig City and is undergoing his OJT at Valenzuela CPS came from NCRPO - Camp Bagong Diwa enroute to Taytay to have lunch and chanced upon the situation that led to the rescue of the 14 year old female who jumped to the said floodway to commit suicide;

WHEREAS, when Mr. August chanced upon the incident, and as to the call of duty, the latter immediately alighted the passenger jeepney where he was onboard and right away jumped from the bridge in hope of rescuing the drowning female, fortunately, the said police trainee successfully grabbed the teenager while struggling in the middle of the man-made floodway and with the help of a fisherman near the area, both the rescuer and the rescuer were able to ride a boat to the riverside;

WHEREAS, the woman was rushed by the Taytay Rescue Unit to June V. Zapanta Emergency Hospital for medical treatment and the survivor stated that she was suffering from depression due to sexual maltreatment she had been experiencing from her stepfather that transpired in Taguig City, prompting her to transfer at her sister’s residence in Taytay, Rizal;

WHEREAS, by his undaunted courage and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of danger, P/T August Daguio David Jr. valiantly showed heroism, and this is nothing less than a deed of personal bravery and selfless act above and beyond the call of duty in the performance of more than ordinary hazardous service that led not only to saving a life but also saving a victim of abuse;

WHEREAS, the Municipality of Taytay, Rizal shall give due recognition to distinctive acts of heroism and gallantry in order to encourage men and women to perform heroic deeds for their community;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, by the 12th Sangguniang Bayan of Taytay, Rizal, in session duly assembled, hereby HONORS AND COMMENDS POLICE TRAINEE AUGUST DAGUIO DAVID JR. FOR HIS EXEMPLARY COURAGE AND HEROISM.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that copy of this Resolution be furnished and forwarded to P/T August Daguio David Jr. for his information.

ADOPTED, this 11th day of October 2023, 3:55 PM at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, Municipality of Taytay, Province of Rizal.
