A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF RA 10028: EXPANDED BREASTFEEDING PROMOTION ACT OF 2009 IN TAYTAY, RIZAL
WHEREAS, Republic Act 10028, also known as the Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009, aims to protect, promote, and support the rights of breastfeeding mothers and their infants;
WHEREAS, breastfeeding is recognized globally as the optimal method of infant and young child feeding, providing numerous health benefits to both mother and child;
WHEREAS, the Municipality of Taytay acknowledges the importance of promoting and supporting breastfeeding as a key component of maternal and child health and nutrition;
WHEREAS, the Municipal Nutrition Action Office has conducted an assessment of the current status of breastfeeding practices in our municipality and recognizes the need for intensified efforts to improve breastfeeding rates and ensure a breastfeeding-friendly environment;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, by the 12th Sangguniang Bayan of Taytay, Rizal, in session duly assembled, hereby ADOPTS THE FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF RA 10028: EXPANDED BREASTFEEDING PROMOTION ACT OF 2009 IN TAYTAY, RIZAL.
RESOLVED FURTHER, that the Municipal Health Office, in collaboration with the Municipal Nutrition Action Office, shall take the lead in implementing activities and initiatives to promote breastfeeding, including but not limited to:
1. Establishing lactation stations and breastfeeding-friendly spaces in public areas, offices, and establishments throughout the municipality;
2. Conducting breastfeeding education and awareness campaigns targeting pregnant women, new mothers, and their families to highlight the benefits of breastfeeding;
3. Training healthcare professionals, community health workers, and barangay officials on breastfeeding promotion and support;
4. Encouraging local businesses and employers to adopt policies that support breastfeeding employees, such as providing lactation breaks and appropriate facilities for expressing milk;
5. Collaborating with relevant stakeholders, including schools, healthcare facilities, non-governmental organizations, and community groups, to create a supportive environment for breastfeeding mothers; and
6. Regularly monitoring and evaluating the implementation of breastfeeding promotion initiatives and progress in our municipality.
RESOLVED FINALLY, that copies of this Resolution be furnished to the Municipal Mayor, Municipal Health Office, Municipal Nutrition Action Office, and other concerned departments and agencies for their information and necessary action.
ADOPTED, this 18th day of October 2023, 6:22 PM at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, Municipality of Taytay, Province of Rizal.
