Resolution No. 329 series of 2023

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE TAYTAY RIVER INITIATIVES FOR BETTER ENVIRONMENT (PROJECT TRIBE) AS A PARTNER OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT OF TAYTAY IN ITS EFFORTS TO REHABILITATE RIVERS AND CREEKS WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY

WHEREAS, Project TRIBE, is an initiative that was started in 2021 by its main proponents, Dr. Mylene G. Cayetano, a resident of Taytay, and a Professor at the University of the Philippines Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology (UP-IESM), then Barangay Kagawad of Brgy. Sta. Ana, John Tobit E. Cruz, and Southeast Asia Lake Network (SEALNet) Chairperson and Taytay resident, Adelina Santos-Borja, and Dr. Myzonee Ligaray, Associate Professor at UP-IESM);

WHEREAS, TRIBE is a two-year model river rehabilitation project that aims to develop and establish a community-based basin-rehabilitation model that is practical, science-based, and replicable, starting with the Maningning Creek and Taytay, River;

WHEREAS, Project TRIBE received a grant funding from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) under the Niche Centers in the Region for Research and Development (NICER) Lakes Program;

WHEREAS, Project TRIBE has presented its initiatives to the Local Government Unit of Taytay last October 27, 2022, attended by representatives from the Office of the Mayor, Office of the Municipal Administrator, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), Municipal Planning and Development Office, Municipal Engineering Department and representatives from all five (5) barangays of the municipality;

WHEREAS, in the same meeting, the Municipal Administrator expressed its commitment to support the project as it is aligned with the goal of the Municipal Government of Taytay to rehabilitate and protect its waterways;

WHEREAS, Project TRIBE, since then, is in continuous coordination with the MENRO and the Office of the Chairperson for the Committee on Natural Resources and Environmental Protection to report the results of its monthly water testing and analysis, for the purpose of legislative action;

WHEREAS, this Sanggunian recognizes the help and support that the Local Government Unit gets from this initiative, particularly on the data, its analysis, and further recommendations that the LGU can adopt through its corresponding offices;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, by the 12th Sangguniang Bayan of Taytay, Rizal, in session hereby assembled, hereby RECOGNIZES THE TAYTAY RIVER INITIATIVES FOR BETTER ENVIRONMENT (PROJECT TRIBE) AS A PARTNER OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT OF TAYTAY IN ITS EFFORTS TO REHABILITATE RIVERS AND CREEKS WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this Resolution be furnished and forwarded to all concerned for their information and appropriate action.

ADOPTED, this 24th day of November 2023, 5:31 PM at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, Municipality of Taytay, Province of Rizal.
