Resolution No. 424 series of 2024

A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING POSTHUMOUS COMMENDATION AND RECOGNITION TO JOURNALIST ZACARIAS B. SARIAN, FOR HIS LEGACY AND REMARKABLE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PHILIPPINE JOURNALISM AND AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRY

WHEREAS, Mr. Zacarias “Zac” Sarian, an agricultural journalist who dedicated his lifetime to the agricultural industry is commonly considered the “Father and Dean of the Philippine Agricultural Journalism”;

WHEREAS, Mr. Zarian has been residing in Ortigas Greenheights Subdivision for more than fifty (50) years until his untimely demise on December 7, 2020, at the age of 83 years old;

WHEREAS, Zac Sarian received a prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1974 for his contributions to developmental journalism;

WHEREAS, a Lifetime Achievement Award was also presented to him during the 2018 Philippine Agricultural Journalists - San Miguel Corporation Binhi Awards, proving his integral role in the industry;

WHEREAS, Zac continuously showcased his expertise and significant ideas in his agricultural column and agriculture magazine at the news agency Manila Bulletin;

WHEREAS, his works inspired and impressed those in the agricultural sector including farmers, agri-journalists, colleagues, and even higher officials such as the Department Secretary, pay homage to his contributions;

WHEREAS, the Local Government of Taytay commends and recognizes the legacy of Zac Sarian not only as a constituent of this municipality but as a reputable citizen of the country;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, by the 12th Sangguniang Bayan of Taytay, Rizal, in a session duly assembled, hereby EXPRESSES POSTHUMOUS COMMENDATION AND RECOGNITION TO JOURNALIST ZACARIAS B. SARIAN, FOR HIS LEGACY AND REMARKABLE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PHILIPPINE JOURNALISM AND AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRY.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that a copy of this Resolution be furnished to all associated offices and parties concerned for their information and appropriate action.

ADOPTED, this 10th day of July 2024, 3:46 PM at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, Municipality of Taytay, Province of Rizal.
