Resolution No. 342 series of 2023

A RESOLUTION URGING ALL THE BARANGAYS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF TAYTAY TO ADOPT ORDINANCE NO. 750 S. 2022, ALSO KNOWN AS THE RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP ORDINANCE OF TAYTAY AND TO CREATE THE BARANGAY RABIES PREVENTION AND CONTROL COMMITTEE

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 750, was enacted last October 13, 2022, provides for the pertinent guidelines to promote responsible pet ownership and protect the residents of the Municipality of Taytay, Rizal from rabies infections pursuant to Republic Act 9482 also known as the Anti-Rabies Act of 2007;

WHEREAS, there is a growing number of animal bite incidences within the municipality with eleven existing laboratory positive rabies cases as of November 30, 2023;

WHEREAS, stray animals and those that defecate in public places are common complaints received by the Municipal Government and the Barangays;

WHEREAS, Section 4 of Ordinance No. 750 creates in every barangay the Barangay Rabies Prevention and Control Committee (BRPCC) composed of the Punong Barangay, the Barangay Secretary, the Committee Chairperson for Health, and the Chief Barangay Tanod;

WHEREAS, the cooperation of the barangays in implementing the ordinance is crucial in curving the current number of cases of animal bites and rabies infection in the entire municipality;

WHEREAS, Sangguniang Barangays are also hereby encouraged to allocate funds for the construction of a temporary holding facility for stray animals, pending the construction of a bigger municipal-wide animal pound facility;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, by the 12th Sangguniang Bayan of Taytay, Rizal, in a session duly assembled, hereby URGES ALL THE BARANGAYS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF TAYTAY TO ADOPT ORDINANCE NO. 750 S. 2022, ALSO KNOWN AS THE RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP ORDINANCE OF TAYTAY AND TO CREATE THE BARANGAY RABIES PREVENTION AND CONTROL COMMITTEE.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this Resolution be furnished to all five Barangays in the Municipality of Taytay, Rizal.

ADOPTED, this 13th day of December 2023, 7:07 PM at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, Municipality of Taytay, Province of Rizal.
