Resolution No. 577 series of 2025

A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE SUNDUAN CULTURAL SOCIETY OF TAYTAY, INC. FOR THE 50TH YEAR CELEBRATION OF THE SUNDUAN FESTIVAL, AND RECOGNIZING ITS CONTRIBUTION IN ENRICHING THE TOWN’S CULTURAL IDENTITY

WHEREAS, the Sunduan Festival was first celebrated in the Municipality of Taytay on May 4, 1975 through the collaborative efforts of the private sector and the local government;

WHEREAS, Sunduan is held every three years on the first Sunday of May since its revival in 2000 and has not only served as a way for us to welcome youth of the community but also helped instill in them the values of giving importance to culture, youth empowerment, zeal for the arts, and camaraderie;

WHEREAS, Sunduan has also become a platform to showcase the artistry of designers and dressmakers in the Municipality of Taytay, solidifying the town’s title as the Garments Capital of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, in 2012, the Sunduan Cultural Society of Taytay, Inc. was also officially established to whose primary purpose is to organize and promote this cultural event;

WHEREAS, now a longstanding tradition, the Sunduan Festival has marked its significance to the cultural circle of the municipality, and has become an event that many Taytayeños look forward to;

WHEREAS, the Sangguniang Bayan has adopted Resolution No. 181 s. 2023 recognizing the Sunduan Festival as an Important Cultural Event in the Municipality of Taytay;

WHEREAS, the Municipal Government of Taytay has also submitted the Sunduan Festival to be included in the Local Cultural Inventory of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, endorsed by this Sanggunian through Resolution No. 138 series of 2022;

WHEREAS, this year, Sunduan celebrates its Fiftieth Year – a momentous milestone for this cultural event;

WHEREAS, this August Body also recognizes the festival’s contribution to the town’s cultural identity through its longstanding practices and traditions that have been passed on from generations to generations;

WHEREAS, the Local Government of Taytay, Rizal, under the administration of Mayor Allan Martine S. De Leon, MPA, and the 12th Sangguniang Bayan, expresses its warmest greetings to all the members of the Sunduan Cultural Society of Taytay, Inc., celebrating this momentous milestone;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, by the 12th Sangguniang Bayan of Taytay, Rizal, in a session duly assembled, hereby CONGRATULATES THE SUNDUAN CULTURAL SOCIETY OF TAYTAY, INC. FOR THE 50TH YEAR CELEBRATION OF THE SUNDUAN FESTIVAL, AND RECOGNIZES ITS CONTRIBUTION IN ENRICHING THE TOWN’S CULTURAL IDENTITY.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this Resolution be furnished and forwarded to all concerned for their information and appropriate action.

ADOPTED, this 26th day of February 2025, 3:59 PM at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, Municipality of Taytay, Province of Rizal.
