Resolution No. 374 series of 2024

A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE LOCAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE MAYOR ALLAN MARTINE S. DE LEON, MPA TO DESIGNATE A SPACE FOR THE RELOCATION OF THE TAYTAY MUNICIPAL LIBRARY AT THE 3RD FLOOR OF THE TAYTAY PUBLIC MARKET

WHEREAS, the Taytay Municipal Library was first constructed at the Old Municipal Building in the year 1958 thru Resolution No. 8 series of 1958 and has had several previous relocations from the Old Municipal Building to its current location inside the Provincial Library;

WHEREAS, the current status of our municipal library is “inactive” based on the pronouncement from the National Library, conversely, the Local Government Unit of Taytay being mandated to have a functional library based on Republic Act No. 7743 shall pursue to relocate and re-activate its own municipal library;

WHEREAS, under the Local Government Code, Section 444(b)(ix), “the Municipal Mayor shall allocate and assign office space to municipal and other officials and employees who, by law or ordinance, are entitled to such space in the municipal hall and other buildings owned or leased by the municipal government”;

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 24, series of 2022 states that “relocating government offices in the New Taytay Public Market will not only decongest the present offices, cut or avoid rental expenses, provide comfort to those who visit the said offices and is in consonance with promotion of the general welfare”;

WHEREAS, the required full seating capacity of a public library, as prescribed by the National Library, is at fifty (50) persons and a one hundred fifty (150) square meter allocation of the 3rd floor of the New Taytay Public Market may be an appropriate choice for the relocation of the Municipal Library;

WHEREAS, having a stand alone Municipal Library at a more accessible area for the general public will bring learning closer to Taytayeños as learning resource centers have been evolving to cater to the changing times and expansion of the information age;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, by the 12th Sangguniang Bayan of Taytay, Rizal, in session duly assembled, hereby REQUESTS THE LOCAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE MAYOR ALLAN MARTINE S. DE LEON, MPA TO DESIGNATE A SPACE FOR THE RELOCATION OF THE TAYTAY MUNICIPAL LIBRARY AT THE 3RD FLOOR OF THE TAYTAY PUBLIC MARKET.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this Resolution be furnished to all concerned offices for their information and perusal.

ADOPTED, this 6th day of March 2024, 2:20 PM at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, Municipality of Taytay, Province of Rizal.
